The Ouija board is a flat board marked with the letters of the alphabet, the numbers 0-9, the words “yes” and “no”, and various other symbols. It is used in sances to communicate with the dead. One or more participants place their fingers on a planchette, a small heart-shaped piece of wood or plastic, and ask questions. The planchette is then said to move around the board, spelling out answers to the questions.
The Ouija board was invented in 1890 by Elijah Bond and Charles Kennard. It quickly became a popular parlor game, and it is still used today by people who believe that it can be used to communicate with the dead. However, there is no scientific evidence to support this claim.
