Billiards, also called pool, is a cue sport in which players use a cue stick to hit billiard balls and score points by pocketing them into designated pockets on a billiard table. Eight-ball is a variation of billiards played with a set of 16 balls, including 1 black ball, 7 solid-colored balls, and 7 striped balls. The objective of eight-ball is to be the first player to pocket all of one’s assigned group of balls (either solids or stripes) and then legally pocket the black ball.
Eight-ball can be played on a variety of billiard tables, but the most common size is an 8-foot table. The game is played with a cue stick, which is a long, thin stick with a leather tip on one end. Players use the cue stick to hit the cue ball, which is the white ball, and the cue ball then strikes the object balls (the colored balls).
